Improvements to Fokker-Planck app
(Message 7030)
Posted 132 days ago by [SETI.USA]Tank_Master In my experience with BOINC and aqua, it wont change the behavior of the number of threads it uses for multi threaded apps until new ones are downloaded. I have switched form 8 threads to 6 on my i7 because I have GPUs projects and VMs running in the background, and it always keeps running the original amount of threads for WUs already cached and wont use the new value until new WUs are downloaded. Restarting BOINC nor the computer changes this behavior. |

Posted 376 days ago by [SETI.USA]Tank_Master my atom 1.9GHz takes a good week to complete a WU, however I am not currently running aqua on it, but just thought I would mention it. My i7 920 and qx9750 will be out of work on friday. |

Run Times
(Message 4013)
Posted 396 days ago by [SETI.USA]Tank_Master My slowest comp is my atom 330 @ 1.9GHz. It takes about 46-47h to complete a WU with hyperthreading. It has win7 x64 with 4GB ram. My fastest comp is the i7 920 @ 3.6GHz. It takes about 4-4.5h to complete a WU with hyperthreading . It has win7 x64 with 6GB ram. Then theres my qx9750 system @ 4.05GHz. It takes about 8h to complete a WU. It has win7 x64 with 4GB ram. Times are all for the 128 WU type. |

(Message 3296)
Posted 413 days ago by [SETI.USA]Tank_Master Thanks! Maybe my computer won't crash as often when running CUDA. :D at first they weren't going to, but then people complained... and it all went down hill from there :( in a word - "backwards compatibility" is the reason 32bit is still around edit: I guess thats 2 words, oh well :P on a side note, server 2008 R2 (server version of win7) will only be 64bit |
